Review:

When I was looking a for a new movie to see, I came across this and saw it was getting pretty good reviews. I went into this mostly blind, and despite my concerns, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed. Many online were calling this a mix of pulp fiction and other heavily stylized productions, and while that may sound like something destined to fail, trying to capture the magic of other films, this instead uses many references and homages in ways that show appreciation while having its own unique style. The main thing that I got from this movie was that it was made by someone with a love for movies. Each story is unique and has its own charm. Some are longer than others, and they have differing themes. But the underlying theme of all these stories is sticking to what you believe in and the will to fight for it.

Synopsis:

Set in 1987 Oakland, Freaky Tales is a multi-track mixtape of colorful characters — an NBA star, a corrupt cop, a female rap duo, teen punks, neo-Nazis, and a debt collector — on a collision course in a fever dream of showdowns and battles.
