Review:

Synopsis:

Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their Mississippi hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

Sinners was originally a movie that I was in no rush to see, but after seeing the rave reviews online, I quickly bought a ticket, and it didn't disappoint. As someone deeply involved in the world of music, there was no doubt that I was going to enjoy this film. With that being said, don't be fooled by the marketing. This is a movie about the power of music and how it has evolved, disguised as a vampire horror movie. When you sit down and think about the movie, it becomes clear that this tale has something to say. There is one scene in particular, and you will know it when you see it, that caught me off guard, but in the best way possible. Without getting into specifics, the scene involves a mixture of sounds and instruments from different eras, and it shows how they clash and blend. It exemplifies how all these different sounds still represent the same goal. That being, bringing people together.
